It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Mrs. Jeanne St. Martin, former Director of Accounting Programs under UMBC’s Department of Economics who passed away this past March. Jeanne inspired and supported many UMBC students as they completed their studies and began successful careers in the fields of finance and accounting while earning many departmental awards for her excellence and commitment.
Jeanne began her career at UMBC in 1991, supporting the economics department as adjunct instructor before fully transitioning into her role as the Director of Accounting programs in 2008 before her retirement in December 2019 due to health complications. She was selected by students for the department’s outstanding instructor award numerous times. Under her leadership as Director, dozens of students graduated with certificates to support their future careers. Jeanne’s students will fondly remember time spent with her in class as a teacher and outside of class as a mentor and an essential part of our community during her time here.
